94th edition of the Léopold Bellan International Competition
special edition 2020 online

DATE: November 10 to December 10, 2020

General regulations of the contest:

1.       One round, exclusively online.
2.       Disciplines: Piano / Chamber Music / Jazz / Singing / Vocal Ensembles / Accordion / Flute / Trumpet / Saxophone / Tuba / Horn / Trombone / Clarinet / Oboe / Bassoon / Composition / 4 hands and 2 pianos / NEW: Traditional Music STRINGS SECTIONS WILL BE IN 2021 (Harp, Guitar, Violin, Viola, Cello, Dobblebass)
3.       Terms and conditions: No age limit. Minimum level 3rd cycle conservatory. Open to all nationalities.
4.       Program: the program can be arranged as desired, with two composers of choice, performance preferably by heart, duration 15 minutes approximately. 
5.       Rewards: 10 000 euros prize money divided into 10 Honor Prizes and other prizes (see details below).
6.      Advice from an international expert in each category for all participants.
7.      Jury of 3 to 5 international members per discipline, revealed on November 10.
8.     Registrations FROM NOVEMBER 10 TO DECEMBER 10, 2020, participants submit their video(s) by inserting the link(s) directly into the registration form.
9.     Results on December 20, 2020.
10.   Registration fee for all disciplines: 30 euros.
11.   Video instructions: 1 fixed horizontal shot, without editing and without cuts for the entire program or for each of the pieces. Presentation of name and first name or name of the group at the beginning of the video. Upload of the video(s) as "unlisted" on a YouTube, dailymotion, or other server and insertion of the link(s) into the online registration form. The link(s) must be directly accessible, without authorization request. 

Detailed regulations

Specific discipline regulations:

Vocal ensemble : open to all vocal ensembles with 4 to 24 choristers, excluding the conductor.

Composition : one work for string instrument and piano or voice and piano. Duration of max. 8 minutes. The prize-winning compositions will be suggested to the other winners and performed at future concerts.

Traditional music : all countries / all formations / world music included. 

 

Awards:

In each discipline, the Jury awards a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize. It may also award a Young Talent Prize of 250 euros, a Special Prize of 500 euros and/or a Honor Prize* of 1000 euros. The Jury's decision is final.*
Acceptance of the Honor Prize implies a performance at a concert in one of the Bellan Foundation centers and attendance to the Gala concert (when the circumstances allow it).

Other awards:

Furthermore, other rewards, in the form of scholarships, concerts, or other are offered by partner organizations. Because of the current restrictions in the cultural sector linked to COVID 19, their awarding will be delayed by one year, EITHER FOR THE SEASON OF 2021 OR 2022. However, the Competition guarantees the persistence of these partnerships, with a one-year delay in the case of a "back to normal" return:

● 1 scholarship** for the University of Vienna (Austria), Class of Thomas Kreuzberger
● 1 to 3 participations in a festival competition of the Triumph and Artzveda organization (Russia)
● 1 scholarship** for the Cap Ferret Music Festival Academy 
● 1 concert at the Saint Cloud Concerts
● 1 concert at the Town Hall of the 3rd Arrondissement of Paris
● 1 concert with the Orchestra of the CRR de Paris 
● 1 concert at the Casa de la Marquesa Gandia (Spain)
● 1 concert at the Cap Ferret Music Open Festival

**masterclass, accommodation and concert included 

Web Prize: among the Honor Prizes and 1st Prizes, one Web Prize is elected by the Internet users via FACEBOOK and YOUTUBE (average number of likes + minutes viewed on YouTube). The winner will receive 500 euros and will be selected by the jury in the following year.

Equivalences: All 1st Prize winners are directly admitted to the finals of the Osaka International Music Competition. In addition, all 1st and 2nd Prize winners of the Osaka International Music Competition are exempted from the Bellan Competition elimination rounds. 

Image rights: The winners authorize the publication of their videos on the website and social media accounts of the Competition.

Scholarship: Candidates with an exceptional musical talents who don’t benefit from financial stability can gain a scholarship for the registration fees. A written request with copies of the verification documents (tax documents, diplomas) has to be sent to the Lancer d’Art Association.
